Terms of Use

Last updated: June 29, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and FT Studios ("we", "us", "our") and govern your use of the Catchbook iPhone application and the catchbook.ftstudios.app website (together, "Catchbook"). By downloading, installing, or using Catchbook, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Catchbook.

The short version. Catchbook is a personal fishing journal. The core app is free. "Catchbook Pro" is an auto-renewing subscription you can buy through the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings. Your fishing data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account — we never see it.

1. License to use Catchbook

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use Catchbook on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. This license is granted under the terms of the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA"), which is hereby incorporated by reference and applies to your use of Catchbook except where these Terms expand it.

2. Eligibility and account

Catchbook does not require you to create an account with us. You must be at least the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction to use Catchbook. By using Catchbook you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using Catchbook on behalf of a household member who is under that age, you accept responsibility for their use.

3. Catchbook Pro — auto-renewing subscription terms

Catchbook offers an auto-renewing subscription called "Catchbook Pro" that unlocks advanced statistics, AR fish measurement, AI species identification, unlimited logbook export, and other premium features described in the in-app paywall.

3.1 Plans, length, and price

The following plans are available:

PlanLength and renewal
Catchbook Pro (Monthly) 1-month subscription, auto-renews every month at the price shown in the in-app paywall and on the App Store at the time of purchase.
Catchbook Pro (Yearly) 1-year subscription, auto-renews every year at the price shown in the in-app paywall and on the App Store at the time of purchase.

Prices are shown in your local currency in the in-app paywall before you confirm the purchase. Prices may vary by country and may change over time; Apple will notify you in advance of any price increase, in accordance with App Store policies.

3.2 Billing and auto-renewal

3.3 Free trials and introductory offers

If we offer a free trial or an introductory price, the standard subscription price will be charged at the end of the trial or introductory period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

3.4 Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time through iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will continue to have Pro access until that point and will not be charged again. Deleting the Catchbook app does not cancel your subscription.

Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by us. To request a refund, use Apple's Report a Problem page. Refunds are granted at Apple's discretion under the terms of the App Store. Where required by mandatory consumer protection law (for example in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), you may have additional withdrawal or cancellation rights that these Terms do not override.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Your content

Catches, spots, photos, notes, and other information you enter ("Your Content") belong to you. Catchbook stores Your Content on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your private CloudKit database. We do not access, copy, transmit, or analyse Your Content on any server we control — see our Privacy Policy for details. You are responsible for the legality of Your Content, including any photos and GPS data you log.

6. Third-party services

Catchbook uses several Apple services to function, including iCloud (CloudKit), WeatherKit, MapKit, Vision, Core ML, ARKit, and StoreKit. Your use of these services is subject to Apple's applicable terms. Catchbook may also link to third-party websites (for example, fishing regulation references). We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites.

7. Intellectual property

Catchbook, including its software, design, content, trademarks, and logos, is owned by FT Studios and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Catchbook to you. The Apple Standard EULA's ownership and intellectual property provisions also apply.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how Catchbook handles your information. By using Catchbook you also agree to that policy.

9. Disclaimers

Catchbook is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Catchbook will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will accurately identify species, measure fish, predict weather, or record locations.

Catchbook is a personal journaling tool, not a navigational, safety, or compliance device. Do not rely on Catchbook for activities where errors could result in personal injury, loss of life, or environmental harm. Always check local fishing regulations, licences, seasons, bag limits, and protected-species rules before and during fishing.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FT Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of Catchbook. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to Catchbook shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Catchbook Pro in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).

11. Apple-specific terms

These Terms are between you and FT Studios, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Catchbook or its content. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, the more restrictive terms relating to your rights apply with respect to the Apple Standard EULA. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Catchbook evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by another reasonable means. Continued use of Catchbook after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using Catchbook at any time. We may suspend or terminate your licence to use Catchbook if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and intellectual property) will survive.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply. Disputes shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Norway.
